This is the Women of World War II Memorial, located in Whitehall, London. It is near 10 Downing Street, the official residence of our Prime Minister.
I love walking past this memorial, which was unveiled in 2005. I love that it was created to acknowledge the contributions that women made during World War II.
If you walk around the plinth, you will see 17 different bronze sculptures. Each one represents the different roles that women played during the war. Some women were nurses, some were in the Royal Naval Service and others were factory workers.
There is an inscription that says
“The work of women will never be done”.
This road can get quite busy, but I was able to take a picture when the traffic lights turned red. Another great sight to see in London.
