Alice
Alice, quiet and reserved, sat at the back of the hall, barely noticeable as a handsome man dressed in black spoke on stage. He had been talking for 30 minutes and was now inviting questions.
A few hands went up, and he answered them with a mix of seriousness and humour. Alice didn’t have a question but felt compelled to say something. Slowly, she raised her hand. He noticed her immediately, looking straight into her eyes. “Yes,” he said, inviting her to speak.
In a soft, clear voice, Alice said something that stunned the room:
“You’re going to be a father.”
